I’ve said this time and time again – Society is making you less of a man. From all the processed junk we see on our grocery shelves, our hectic lifestyles and even cold showers, your testosterone levels are much lower than your father’s and especially your grandfather’s were. It is estimated that we are producing 40% less testosterone than our ancestors, something that needs to be fixed if you’re a serious bodybuilder. Below are some testosterone increasing tips you probably had no clue about.
Tip #1-Eat Saturated Animal Fat
Well, this one isn’t really strange, especially since I talk about it in just about every one of my blog posts. But seriously, saturated fat has been proven to boost a man’s testosterone through the roof and not including it in your diet is missing out on a whole lot of muscle gains! Eating foods like eggs, butter, cheese and red meat are all great to include in a healthy bodybuilding diet.

Animal fat increases testosterone because it increases the amount of HDL (good) cholesterol in the blood. Since fats and especially saturated fats are derived from cholesterol and a higher HDL cholesterol stimulates hormone production, it makes sense to believe that saturated fat will do the same; and it does.
As part of a good bodybuilding diet, at least 20% of calories should come from fat and in my opinion, a majority of that number should be saturated.
Tip #2-Cold Showers
These are my favorite. I have been taking cold showers since I was 16. At first, you’re going to hate them but then you’ll realize that they’re not that bad and you’ll get used to them. Hot showers have proven to lower testosterone levels which is why taking cold showers is the way to go if you want to have maximum testosterone.
Don’t be scared of cold water. My advice – Just hop right in! The more you think about it, the less you’ll want to do it. Don’t be a girl, just turn the water nozzle all the way to the left and be ready for the blast of your life.
Tip #3-Sleep In The NUDE
That’s right, you heard me. Your testicles were meant to be a few degrees cooler than the rest of your body, which is why letting them hang freely is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Testosterone is produced in the testicles and testosterone production is increased when your testicles are colder. This also explains why cold showers stimulate testosterone production.
(This is also why it’s not a good idea to wear tight underwear)
Tip #4-Get More Zinc
Zinc prevents testosterone from turning into the female hormone (estrogen). Not only that, but Zinc also turns estrogen back into testosterone. Not only that, but zinc has also been shown to increase your sperm count and sperm production, which means more testosterone.
Some great examples of foods high in zinc can be found below:
- Toasted wheat germ
- Toasted veal liver
- Roast beef
- Roasted pumpkin and squash seeds
- Dried watermelon seeds
- Dark chocolate
- Peanut butter
If you absolutely hate any of the above foods I just listed, zinc can also be supplemented.
Tip #5-Kill Your Stress Levels
When you’re stressed out, rather it be at work, school at home, etc.; testosterone takes a huge plunge, bigger than you would think. With this huge drop in testosterone, a hormone cortisol is increased which burns muscle and stores fat. Can you say double whammy? Not only is the hormone that builds muscle dropping, but the hormone that burns it is increasing! Stress can seriously be a killer, especially to your muscle gains.
Tip #6-Root For The Right Sports Team!
You’d be surprised at how much of an effect your favorite sports team has an effect on your testosterone levels. If they lose, it slightly drops. But research seems to indicate that when your favorite sports team wins, the testosterone spike can be huge! Why do you think so many people get riled up about football and basketball games? There is only one reason – Testosterone. So pick the winning team and watch your manliness increase as well.
